     The Historical Museum and Genealogical Society Archives are located at the address above, one block south of US Hwy 24. The archives are open each business day from 10:00 - 4:00 p.m. Central Time. Publications are available in The Genealogy Room. These include many cemetery records.

  • Women in Military
    Women Veterans Day is observed on June 12 in the United States,
    a date chosen to mark the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act.
    Several speakers are lined up to tell of their duties and experiences in the service to our country.
    Monday, June 12th 2023.
    Starting at 6:30p.m. with refreshments to follow.

  • Parade and Fair
    July will start with the 4th of July Parade. The theme for this year's parade is Red - White - Blue.

    The County Fair begins July 18th and runs daily to July 23rd.
    We plan to be there with treats to pass out, books to sell, games for the kids, and our $1 grab bag.

  • Virtual Cemetery Walk
    Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
    This Program has been rescheduled until September -

  • Indians of Iroquois County 2022
    Mary Buhr gave a Program on Indians and Iroquois County before and after the county was formed in 1834. This includes how Iroquois County got its name, what tribes were here, how the tribes moved around, and how they fought. We had so many request a copy of the program that Mary made a book.

Over the Miles with Mary
The Month of January is pretty slow around the Genealogy Room.

So it is a great time to have
Over the miles with Mary.
You can call or facetime with Mary to work on your genealogy while staying warm at home.


Ground Hog Day
We plan to celebrate by serving a pulled dinner.

We will be serving pulled pork sandwiches with sides and a drink.
Dine in or carry out.
Donations accepted

Irish Seminar
On St Patrick's Day, Friday March 17th, 2023
We will be presenting Diane Kelly Runyon,
author, researcher, and prolific in Irish genealogy.

Our doors will open at 9am with Irish treats before the program
The program is 10a.m. to 2p.m.
At the Crescent City Community Center in downtown Crescent City.
Diane will teach and entertain us with her knowledge of Ireland.
Lunch break will be Irish recipes of favorite soups and breads.
After lunch break, Diane will take center stage again.
We will have door prizes and Diane's book for sale.
Advance tickets are $18 / $20 at the door.

We will once again have a cookoout near the front entrance of Wal-mart.

Saturday, May 13th
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Women in Military
Women Veterans Day is observed on June 12 in the United States,
a date chosen to mark the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act.
Several speakers are lined up to tell of their duties and experiences in the service to our country.
Women are no longer just nurses and office personal.
Today they can and are expected to do the same things their male counterparts can do.
Plan to come the evening of the 12th to hear past and present experiences.
The program will take place in the courtroom of the Old Courthouse Museum.

Starting at 6:30p.m. with refreshments to follow.

One Room Schools
We will be having a program on the One Room Schools of Iroquois County

VIRTUAL CEMETERY WALK
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2023

This will be held at the Crescent City Community Center , rain or shine.
$5 donation is suggested.

This Cemetery Walk will be different.
Instead of choosing just one cemetery, we will be visiting several - Virtually!

There are many small, isolated, hard to find cemeteries in Iroquois County.
So many of these have no parking area
or are on private property, are very small,
and yet contain ancestors of many of our families.
So we have decided to hold a Virtual Cemetery Walk.

This first VIRTUAL CEMETERY WALK will be on MILFORD CEMETERIES.


Wal-Mart Cookout
Getting ready for Fall.

Harvest Daze
Starting with the drive thru FISH FRY on Friday October 6th
Opening Ceremonies at 9:00a.m. on Saturday.
Ham & Beans served on Saturday, October 7th 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pumpkin Patch on in the big tent with prizes on Sunday, October 8th.

Amoung all the many festivities at the Old Court House Museum - Harvest Daze.


Family History Month
The Month of October is Family History Month.


HAUNTED CEMETERY WALK
So many people have been asking for a Haunted Cemetery Walk.

The plan is for Friday, October 27, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.


Our Annual Meeting
Our meeting will be alittle later this year.

Saturday, November 18, 2023

Join us for Coffee and snacks starting at 9:00 a.m.
We are planning to have a speaker.
Followed by our meeting and election of officers.

And then the decorating of a tree for Christmas Tree Lane


Our Annual Volunteer Dinner

to be held on Wednesday, December 13th at noon.
