St. John Family

StJohn Family - About 1850-60

This is copy of the daguerreotype of John Baptiste St. John and daughters; Rosa, Julienne and perhaps Marie.

It is my understanding that their name was Laperche in Canada but was changed to St. John when they moved to the US.

It is my understanding that they came from Ste. Cesaire, Quebec, Canada prior to 1850 as I found the family in Mexico, Oswego, New York in 1850.

My husband's grandfather was Theophilus or Theodore and I have been doing genealogical research on this family.

Do you have a pamphlet or a short history of why some many French from Canada moved to your area?
I would be interested in what information you may have.
