Iroquois County Marriage Notices published in

"The Little Fort Porcupine and Democratic Banner".

      To whom it may concern:

Recently, while searching the Illinois State Archives On Line
      Illinois Statewide Marriage Index
      (http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/marrlst.html),
I came across the following notation:

Marriage records in Iroquois County before October 1866 were
destroyed by a courthouse fire. Marriages before October 1866
were entered from the Iroquois Journal and St. John the Baptist
      Catholic Church records.

If the marriage entries are not complete, you may be interested in 6
Iroquois County marriage notices that were published in a Waukegan, IL newspaper,
"The Little Fort Porcupine and Democratic Banner". Attached is a short
description of the newspaper and Tables 1, 2, and 3, which lists the notices. Items
of interest are notices 4 thru 9 on Table 1.

Why these notices were published in Waukegan I do not know. Of the three
clergymen (F. S. Gardner, Johathan Wright & Jacob A. Whitman) who
performed these weddings, the name of one (Gardner) appears in a later
local wedding (perhaps he was a so called circuit rider).

Anyway, hope the attachments are useful. If you have any questions,
      please contact me.
